Taking a page out of Colorado and Washington State, Oregon has legalized the recreational use of marijuana, including personal possession of up to eight ounces for people over 21 years of age. The state will also explore commercial laws to regulate sales, production and distribution, CNN reports. D.C. has legalized the possession of marijuana of up to two ounces for those 21 and over, as well as growing up to six cannabis plants in your home. In Alaska, up to one ounce of possession was legalized.
Adversely, in Florida, medicinal use of marijuana did not pass the vote, while D.C.’s vote – because it is a district – is in jeopardy of being overruled by Congress. Alaska’s ballot will take effect 90 days after the election is certified, while Oregon’s legalization will take effect in July 2015, according to The Verge.
Meanwhile, medical marijuana is legal in 23 states.
