A 22-year-old Maryland man waiting to take his driver’s test was instead arrested after marijuana, money and a gun was found in the car.
Reginald Wooding Jr was next in line to take his road test at the MDOT Motor Vehicle Administration in Glen Burnie, when the instructor smelled marijuana inside the car. The examiner then tipped off the trooper who confirmed the smell and began to investigate.
According to WBALTV 11, Wooding says he borrowed his mother’s car to take the road test.
“That led to a further search of the vehicle. The trooper recovered almost a pound of marijuana, more than $15,000 in suspected drug-related money, a loaded handgun with a 30-round magazine that was in the glove box,” MSP Maj. Greg Shipley said.
Wooding was released on $7,500 unsecured bond and it’s also unclear if his mother will face any charges.
Shipley thanked the examiner for giving him a head’s up about Wooding. “An alert state employee who did the right thing,” Shipley said.
According to online records, this isn’t Wooding’s first encounter with the law. Since 2015, he’s been charged with assault, burglary and other drug-related charges.
