
On Monday afternoon (Nov. 19), the Chicago Office of Emergency Management & Communications tweeted an alert for people in the area to stay clear of Mercy Hospital. The Chicago Tribune reports an active shooter opened fire inside the hospital, wounding an undisclosed number of people, including a Chicago officer.
The unidentified shooter, described as a 32-year-old male, carried out the terror around 3:20 p.m. The condition of the suspect is unknown, as well as the other victims wounded in the attack. The Tribune notes less than six people may have been injured. Reports state the suspect was also shot once officers arrived on the scene.

NBC News adds the police officer that’s wounded is in critical condition. Mercy Hospital has been completely evacuated as law enforcement officials canvass the area.
