It was not just a regular Monday evening in Minneapolis on May 23. The governor of the state, Mark Dayton, declared the date “Beyoncé Day,” complete with an official proclamation and seal.
“Beyoncé has influenced many young girls and women with powerful, positive messages in her songs and thousands of Minnesotans will gather at TCF Bank Stadium to hear Beyoncé perform,” the proclamation read. “Now, therefore…I hearby proclaim Monday as Beyoncé day.”
Bey was in Minnesota on her sanctioned day of celebration for another leg of her Formation World Tour. Although the performance was delayed due to thunderstorms, we’re sure she still put on a great show.
Even though there’s really no clear reason why of all places, Minnesota declared a “Beyoncé Day” (and not a “Prince Day”…), it’s still a very special honor given to a very special woman.
