You know, for a second there we thought we were in the 21st century in which African-Americans and other minorities had rights, or at the very least any reminder of America’s bloody past would be left just there, in the past. But a las, we have all been proven wrong again.
On the same day someone spray painted Lebron James’ L.A. home with the N-Word, reports indicate a noose was found in an exhibit on segregation inside the National Museum of African-American History and Culture Wednesday. (May 31) Lonnie Bunch, director of the museum released a statement condemning the racist act.
“The noose has long represented a deplorable act of cowardice and depravity—a symbol of extreme violence for African Americans. Today’s incident is a painful reminder of the challenges that African Americans continue to face.”
Unfortunately thisJust four days ago, a noose was found hanging on a tree outside of the Hirshhorn Museum. Despite an on-going investigation, museum officials say that staff and attendees are safe.
