New York Police are looking into an incident that left a 17-year-old pregnant Bronx resident with burns on her torso after having been Tased. According to reports, officers responded to an incident in Wakefield apartment building, they where alerted to yelling from two men in an unrelated incident. Dailene Rosario, 17, said the arguing was between her boyfriend and her sister’s boyfriend over a video game.
However, when officers came to assess the situation, Rosario admits the argument died down, but demanded to see a warrant from the cops, refusing to let them into her apartment. It was then things escalated.
“He said, ‘Oh you’re refusing,’” Rosario recalled “Next thing I know, he grabbed my arm and pulled me into the crowd of cops. Somebody was pinching me, and then I got Tased … [my right hand] was already in the cuff, and then I ended up on the floor.”
In the disturbing video below, the soon-to-be-mother can be heard screaming “I’m pregnant” while she’s being wrestled to the ground. During an interview with WABC, Rosario said she did’t understand why she had to be Tased when she already had a handcuff on one hand. “I was screaming I was pregnant the whole time,” Rosario added. “I was telling them, ‘Get off me, I didn’t do anything wrong.’” she said.
The New York Daily News reports the mother was taken to the hospital where she learned her 14-week-old baby hadn’t been harmed. The Taser hit Rosario in her right torso, resulting in burn marks. The teen–who was pregnant prior and delivered a still born–also suffered bruises from when she fell on the ground. Police charged the teen with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment.
According to the NYPD, Rosario pushed an officer into a door frame, threw herself to the floor and sat on her hands refusing to be handcuffed when officers tried to arrest her.
