An image of a police officer comforting a child in his arms has gone viral, warming the hearts of many and providing hope all isn’t lost.
Officer David Taylor was patrolling the International Rice Festival in Crowley, La., when a festival attendee showed him a lost little boy.
“He was extremely upset. … I put him on my shoulders to see if he would be able to see his parents,” Taylor told ABC News.
The little boy became so comfortable with the officer, that in the 30 minutes it took Officer Taylor to locate the parents, he fell asleep.
“He started to fall asleep, and I moved him down to my chest,” the officer explained.”
Festival attendees couldn’t take their eyes off the police officer and the sleeping boy.
“I think it’s awesome because we hear so much negative things about our police officers today, so I’m happy to say that I’ve seen something that’s a positive image,” festival attendee Carolyn Senegal said.
The heartwarming image received about 5,000 likes on Facebook, but the humble officer just chalks it up to doing his job.
“What I was doing is nothing different from the rest of our law-enforcement colleagues. The only difference is that someone took a photo of me.” he said.
