Although Oprah Winfrey said she would never run for president of the United States of America, the influential public figure will still get a taste of the campaign trail this election season. According to The Washington Post, Winfrey will join Stacey Abrams‘ circle to help spread the word of the latter’s political purpose.
Abrams is running against Republican Brian Kemp on the Democratic ticket for governor of Georgia. She’s recently received support from other notable figures like Tiffany Haddish, Ludacris, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Grant Hill, Gabrielle Union, and more.
In a statement published by the Post, Abrams spoke highly of Winfrey’s impact and her “ability to form real connections and strengthen the bonds of family and community.” Abrams also shared that Winfrey’s purpose will be to provide “uplifting and honest conversations with voters about the clear choice before us in this election and the boundless potential of Georgians.”
Election Day (Nov. 6) will see a drastic shift in the makeup of the House of Representatives and other state-level spokespeople. With under a week to go, candidates and outlets are spreading the word to encourage eligible voters to amplify their voices.
We are all equal in the voting booth. Make your voice heard Nov. 6!
