According to Associated Press (via Yahoo! News), police found one of the largest marijuana farms in Chi-Town history, leaving the officers trading in their badges for overalls to chop down about 1,500 marijuana plants. The police officers said it could have earned the growers as much as $10 million.
AP also reports that James O’Grady, the commander of the department’s narcotics division, said they’ve never seen anything like it before. This is probably due to Chicago’s harsh winters, meaning growers would have a lot less time to plant, grow and harvest marijuana.
So far, no arrests have been made as of Wednesday, and police are still searching for the property owners.
We’re still trying to figure out how they managed to grow Mary Jane in the Windy City, given those extreme climate changes. Chicagoans, let’s us know!
