A Tennessee sheriff, who’s under FBI investigation for selling e-cigarettes to prisoners, is blaming Beyonce’s Super Bowl 50 halftime performance as the reason a drive-by shooting took place outside his home.
Sheriff Robert Arnold from Rutherford County said he thinks it was Beyonce’s “Formation” performance that prompted the shooting, along with the deaths of seven police officers nationwide.
“With everything that’s happened since the Super Bowl, with law enforcement as a whole, I think we’ve lost five to seven officers, five deputy sheriffs since the Super Bowl, that’s what I’m thinking,” he told reporters Tuesday (February 16) “You have Beyoncé’s video and that’s kind of bled over into other things about law enforcement.”
Beyonce’s video, which feature the entertainer standing on top of a sinking New Orleans cop car, and a young boy dressed in all black dancing in front of police officers, merited the wrath of many when she later performed the song in front of millions during the Super Bowl.
The New York Daily News reports that five police officers were killed across the country between the days of February 7 and February 11. None of their deaths are linked to Beyonce’s “Formation.”
Arnold’s wife and children were home but fortunately not hurt during the drive by shooting.
