Violence followed the BET Awards as several parties surrounding the Sunday night ceremony took place over the weekend.
According to TMZ, the latest incident to occur was a shooting at the rapper-frequented Supper Club around 2:30am PT Monday morning (June 30). Hip hop stars like Game, Meek Mill, T-Pain and Busta Rhymes were said to be in attendance.
An eyewitness says that the shooter was allegedly aiming at Game’s car while another said it was a random shot fired in the air. Another witness said that the gunman was wearing a white shirt and ran from the area where the shots were fired. No one was reportedly hit.
The shooting follows an alleged stabbing that took place at a pre-party hosted by Meek at club Lure on Friday night (June 27). Another party reportedly left one man dead and four others injured after a man opened fire around 5:17am early Sunday morning (June 29) at the Monalizza Restaurant and Banquet in East Hollywood, the L.A. Police Department said. It was unclear whether the gunman attended the function or fired from outside the venue. The shooter also escaped.
The Los Angeles Times obtained a statement that said the events were not sanctioned by BET: “The two isolated incidents over the weekend occurred at locations with events that were unauthorized and unaffiliated with the BET Awards.”
Celebrities have also sounded off on the violence, like Ne-Yo, who said on the red carpet, “You can’t place (the blame) on BET.”
