Scott Paul Beierle, 40, walked into a Tallahassee Yoga studio Friday (Nov.2) as if he were any other student and without warning opened fire killing two women. Students fought him and were able to stop him from killing others, but were wounded in the process. Before police arrived, Beierle turned the gun on himself.
The shooting at the Florida Yoga studio is the latest in a string of gun violence sweeping the country.
According to reports, Beierle posted videos on YouTube spewing misogynistic views and his disdain toward women. However, authorities have not been able to draw a connection between the victims of the shooting and him.
Beierle was staying at a local hotel prior to the shooting but was not new to the area. He’s a Florida State University graduate and was the subject of many police calls made by women who reported him for harassment.
In a few videos dating back to 2014, Beierle talked about being rejected by women he tried to take on a date.
“Made one date, didn’t show up,” he said of one woman. “Made another date, didn’t show up. Kept making excuses. Ah, I could’ve ripped her head off.”
Videos titled “Plight of the Adolescent Male” and “Dangers of Diversity” were clips of the pressure Beierle says men go through trying to merit the attention of women.
“I don’t think a female can ever understand the societal pressure that’s put on an adolescent male to unburden himself of this stigma that society’s put on him,” he said. “This virginity burden.”
Andrew Gillum, who’s now running for governor of the state and is currently mayor of Tallahassee will reportedly return to the capital.
