A man’s plan to jump off a highway overpass was thwarted when 13 trucks with help from the Michigan state police lined up on I-696 freeway.
Trucker Chris Harrison posted a picture to Facebook and said the act of heroism took place Tuesday morning (April 24) between 1AM and 3AM. Harrison said the “truck wall” as it’s being called began with just one truck and police then waved about half a dozen truckers through the eastbound side of the freeway and did the same for truck drivers on the westbound side.
Due to their quick thinking, the man–whose name has not been made public– was talked down from the ledge.
This photo does show the work troopers and local officers do to serve the public. But also in that photo is a man struggling with the decision to take his own life. Please remember help is available through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. pic.twitter.com/RBAlCIXT1o
All the truck drivers involved and police were praised for their efforts.
