“I do not use crack cocaine, nor am I an addict of crack cocaine,” Ford said at a news conference held at City Hall (May 24). “As for a video, I cannot comment on a video that I have never seen, or does not exist.”
The video, which hasn’t been released to the masses, surfaced last week Friday (May 17) after two reporters viewed the tape, the Toronto Star reported. In the clip, the journalists said it “appears to show Ford, sitting in a chair, inhaling from what appears to be a glass crack pipe,” the New York Times writes.
The video was shown to the reporters by “a drug dealer who had been trying to sell it for a six-figure sum.” However, Mayor Ford believes the media is attacking his name.
“It is most unfortunate, very unfortunate, that my colleagues and the great people of this city have been exposed to the fact that I’ve been judged by the media without any evidence,” Ford said.
