A 62-year-old white West Virginia man has been charged with first-degree murder after killing a 15-year-old black teen after a verbal altercation. Yet during a jailhouse interview William Pulliam showed no remorse about the shooting.
“The way I look at it, that’s another piece of trash off the street,” Pulliam told investigators. According to reports, James Means bumped into Pulliam outside of a convenience store. The two “exchanged words” and Pulliam allegedly went back inside the store while James went to sit on a nearby friend’s porch.
Clayton Ferguson who was on the porch with James told investigators when Pulliam came out of the convenience store, he walked past the both of them. Ferguson said Pulliam and James began arguing again and when James walked across the street to confront Pulliam, Pulliam allegedly drew his gun and shot the teen.
James, who was unarmed, was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.”I’m sorry, but I’m 62 years old, Pulliam said. “I’m not going to take a bunch of punks beating me up.” Pulliam confessed to shooting James, saying he felt his life was in danger. After the shooting, Pulliam went home, ate dinner and then went to a friend’s house.
