A Southern California commuter was determined to do the unthinkable in a medical emergency. After another passenger reportedly suffered a seizer Wednesday (Aug. 1), the unidentified bad samaritan dragged the unconscious man off of a Metro train at the Wardlow Station in Long Beach, Calif.
Witnesses said the man suffering medical issues began vomiting in his chair moments before passing out. In the video, captured by a witness named “Billion,” a white man in a dark suit is seen dragging the unconscious black man off the train and onto the Metro station’s concrete platform. The unconscious man’s pants fall down in the process, exposing his genitals.
“Dude just had a seizure, and this white boy gonna drag him off the train so he don’t miss his ride,” Billion can be heard saying in the disturbing footage, which was first reported by Los Angeles’ Fox 11 News.
The unconscious man also had “metal staples in his head” and was wearing a medical wristband, indicating that he had recently been treated at a hospital.
Meanwhile, passengers banded together against the suited man. “We all initially responded telling him to get his hands off him or whatever and the guy’s pants fell all the way down so he was naked, so he stopped for a second, pulled his pants up, laid him out on the ground,” Billion recalled to Fox 11.
It seems that the suited guy may have realized that he could go viral. He’s filmed hopping off of the train and heading back to the platform where he kneels down to check on the man that he dragged off the train. “Bro are you responsive?” he asks the clearly unconscious man.
Paramedics eventually showed up to transport the unconscious man to a nearby hospital. Billion told the Long Beach Post that police did not speak with the man in the suit (he remained in the train station), which the department disputed in a statement.
Police are reviewing the video to determine if any “criminal negligence occurred,” an LBPD spokesperson said.
The L.A. County Metro Transportation Authority has opened an investigation into the” disturbing” incident. “Obviously, this is very disturbing and we never want to see this on our system,” the transit agency said in a statement. “We’re getting all the facts including reviewing the video from the train and the platform, and we’ll share more details when they’re available.”
