After experiencing abdominal pains, Stephanie Jaegers decided to figure out what was causing the discomfort and checked-in at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, Ga., WUSA 9 reports. But once medical officials conducted an X-ray, they saw something that would send Jaegers and her husband, Michael, for a loop.
A doctor told Michael that his wife was getting an ultrasound instead of a CAT scan after they suspected the pain she was feeling was due to another life forming inside of her, even though Stephanie told them she was not pregnant when they questioned her. Their suspicions were correct, and ruled that Stephanie was 38 weeks pregnant and ready to deliver her new bundle of joy.
“There are no words to describe the range of feelings associated with being told that you’re having a baby, in 30 minutes,” Michael told the news site.
Stephanie gave birth to a healthy son, adding to their family of two boys, 16 and 11, and a girl, 3. The mom shared that after her last child, doctors notified her that the likelihood of her having another baby was improbable.
On Facebook, Michael shared doctors’ explanation as to why Stephanie wasn’t aware that she was with child.
“Steph was diagnosed with pre-menopause awhile back which would justify the hormone imbalance also associated with a pregnancy,” he wrote. “Shaun was also breech throughout the entire pregnancy which prevented him from moving around to indicate to Steph that he was in there and his position made it to where Steph didn’t ‘show.’ The most bizarre part is she continued to have a menstrual cycle, which the hospital tells us is rare, but can happen.”
