A 98-year-old man has made headlines because of his unwavering love for his wife.
Luther Younger and his wife Waverlee have been married for more than 50 years, and let Luther tell it, he won the jackpot.
“She’s the best cup of tea I ever had,” the Korean War veteran said of his beloved. “She would come in and kiss me and say ‘baby’ and feed me in the bed, and this is what I need right here.”
However, in 2009 Waverlee was diagnosed with brain cancer and has been fighting the disease ever since. Lately, her diagnosis has worsened requiring her to remain in the hospital. The couple’s daughter Lutheta spoke with Yahoo News and said her father’s been walking six miles, to and from the hospital, every day to be with her.
“He doesn’t have to, but he wants to. I can drive him. He just doesn’t want to wait; he’s impatient,” she said.
Luther, however, is adamant about being by Waverlee’s side. “I ain’t nothing without my wife,” he said. “It’s been a rough pull. It’s been tough.”
A Go Fund Me page was launched to help offset the cost of hospital expenses and to pay for rides to and from the hospital. At the time of this post, the fundraising account has made almost $30,000.
