Let’s clap it up one time for Black Love. On Wednesday (Oct. 3), the former President and First Lady exchanged touching words in celebration of their 26th anniversary on Instagram and Twitter.
Barack Obama shared a picture of his wife Michelle‘s grinning face with the caption, “Happy Anniversary, @MichelleObama. For 26 years, you’ve been an extraordinary partner, someone who can always make me laugh, and my favorite person to see the world with.”
The former FLOTUS responded to the anniversary posts on both social networks saying, “Thank you @barackobama for 26+ years of love, trust and respect – for being a man who always lifts up and honors me and our wonderful girls. Each day I’m with you, I’m reminded of what a treasure you truly are to us all.”

Some of Black Hollywood’s A-List stars like Ludacris, LaLa Anthony, Chris Tucker, Halle Berry, Shonda Rhimes, Yara Shahidi, and Uzo Aduba liked and commented on their Instagram posts sharing their best wishes and affection for the couple’s union.
Barack and Michelle met over 29 years ago in Chicago as two of the very few black employees at a prominent law firm. Their professional relationship turned into a romantic one after a business lunch and a community organization meeting.
Director Richard Tanne eventually chronicled the couple’s first date in the 2016 Netflix film Southside with You with Tika Sumpter and Vanessa Bell Calloway playing Michelle and Michelle’s mother, respectively.
