In a televised address to the nation, President Barack Obama unveiled an expansive new executive order to hopefully begin to mend the nation’s broken immigration plan, which will spare nearly $5 million illegal immigrants in the country from deportation.
The move, which Obama says will focus more of its efforts on saving hardworking “families and not felons” will most likely not go over well with the Republican controlled congress, for which the president also had a solution.
“To those members of Congress who question my authority to make our immigration system work better, or question the wisdom of me acting where Congress has failed, I have one answer: Pass a bill,” Obama said.”
According to Yahoo News, Obama’s new immigration plans will include new deportation policies that allow law enforcement to focus their efforts on finding criminals who have illegally entered the country, and not people who have been here for 10 or more years.
This new measure, however, does not include amnesty.
