He may have lost the Texas senatorial race to the incumbent Ted Cruz, but Beto O’Rourke really left a lasting impact on the hearts of millions of voters in the Lone Star State and from people on the outside looking in.
During his concession speech, the Democratic nominee kept it all the way real with his supporters, thanking them for the effort to make their state a better place. Even better? O’Rourke dropped an F-bomb in his speech during a moment of admiration for his followers.
“I want to thank this amazing campaign of people,” he said near the end of his speech. “I am so f**king proud of you guys.” After the curse (which at this point in politics, isn’t even flinch-worthy), he continued to thank his team, community organizers, volunteers, and ambassadors who made his run more successful than anticipated. According to end-poll results, Ted Cruz won with 51.2 percent to O’Rourke’s 48.1 percent, with 83 percent of precincts reporting.
“I love you more than words can express and that love will persist every day going forward…” he continued. “…Making sure whatever we have created and changed, and all of us will decide what that means and how far it goes, that it leads something far greater than what we have today and that everything one of us continues to believe and made possible the greatness of the United States of America.”
