Colin Kaepernick has made headlines once again. The San Francisco 49er, whose national protest either merited the praise or ire of many, said he didn’t vote in the general election. According to the 29-year-old, people of color will continue to receive the short end of the political stick no matter who’s in office.
“I’ve been very disconnected from the systemic oppression as a whole,” the quarterback said to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. “So, for me, it’s another face that’s going to be the face of that system of oppression. And to me, it didn’t really matter who went in there. The system still remains intact that oppresses people of color.”
While Hillary Clinton never commented on Kaepernick’s protest, her running mate, Tim Kane said he supported it while Trump made it clear he did not. Stephen A. Smith went on a lengthy rant calling Kaepernick a hypocrite for not exercising his right to vote and when the Internet learned of Kaepernick’s choice, many felt he undermined his own protest.
My two cents….
Don’t see the point of protesting Trump now and @Kaepernick7 is wack for not voting
