
While the Black Lives Matter movement has garnered its fair share of scrutiny and criticism from media platforms such as FOX News and political figures such as Donald Trump, its latest adversary is something none of us really saw coming: The Democratic Party. In a memo leaked yesterday (Aug. 31), by Guccifer 2.0, a prominent hacktivist blog in the vein of Anonymous, the Black Lives Matter movment was described as a “radical movement” that is keen on ending “anti-black racism” and urged Democratic officials not to “offer support for concrete policy positions.”

In addition, the memo also advises politicians to refrain from using phrases such as “black-on-black crime” and “all lives matter” since they are viewed as “red herring attacks.” What the memo means by “red herring attacks” we’re not exactly sure, but the “all lives matter” has been used by proponents against the Black Lives Matter movement or those not too keen on ending police brutality against African Americans.

“Despite this less than pleasant news, the DCCC has maintained that it stands in solidarity with the BLM movement. In less than two years, BLM has evolved from three words into a political force that is changing and waking our nation,” said Meredith Kelly in a statement to Mic. “At the DCCC, we highly encourage our candidates to not only embrace the importance of this movement, but to meet with and listen to community activists to partner social change.”
