Another day, another comment from someone with the last name “Trump” that has gotten under people’s skin.
Donald Trump Jr. offered up some unneeded insight about sexual harassment towards women in the workplace during his appearance on the Opie And Anthony Show in 2013, which was recently unearthed.
When discussing with the hosts if women should be allowed in all-male golf clubs, the trio concluded that “a guy’s place is a guy’s place,” and having women in a predominately-male space ruins everything.
“They complain, ‘it’s harassment,’ that’s why we hate having them around,” said one of the hosts. “They stop us from doing what we want to do.”
Later, the son of the G.O.P. nominee puts in his two cents. “If you can’t handle some of the basic stuff that’s become a problem in the workforce today, then you don’t belong in the workforce,” he said. “You should go maybe teach kindergarten. I think it’s a respectable position. You can’t be negotiating billion-dollar deals if you can’t handle, like, you know. But listen, there’s a place where you have to draw the line, but today the stuff you get in trouble for…”
He also said that he would use being sexually harassed as a means of monetary gain, when one of the hosts said it would be “funny” if they pulled up a picture of a woman’s breasts on the computer and Trump Jr. didn’t like what he saw.
“I’d feel harassed!” he laughed. “This is my get-rich-quick scheme. I’m now suing you guys because I feel uncomfortable! And by the way, that’s what happens in the world. I can play along, I can be fine, and then I can decide randomly, ‘Uh oh, you now have crossed the line, even though I’ve been going with it.’”
Trump Jr.’s comments have been unearthed in the wake of his father’s own exposed, controversial statements regarding groping and kissing women inappropriately, which he has fervently denied doing and hasn’t really apologized for. Opie and Anthony star Anthony Cumia was fired from the SiriusXM radio show in 2014 due to tweeting a slew of racist remarks after an incident involving a black woman.
Let’s not forget that gender-based sexual harassment in the workplace is illegal in the United States.
