Jill Stein’s presidential election recount efforts seemed to have reached Hillary Clinton’s camp. Marc Elias, general counsel of Clinton’s campaign, took to the Medium Saturday (Nov. 26) announce and detail the scope of their involvement in the Wisconsin recount.
Stein officially announced her pursuit of a recount Friday (Nov. 25). Two days earlier, Stein launched funding efforts, of which she has already raised close to $6 million dollars of the $7 million needed, putting the initiative in position to financially meet the November 25 deadline for the Wisconsin.
“It should go without saying that we take these concerns extremely seriously,” Elias wrote. “We certainly understand the heartbreak felt by so many who worked so hard to elect Hillary Clinton, and it is a fundamental principle of our democracy to ensure that every vote is properly counted.”
Elias denoted the camp’s decision to move in silence within the last couple of weeks to Russia’s involvement in the DNC and Clinton’s email hacking ordeals, in addition to their orchestration behind inflated news propaganda released during the final weeks of the election.
Considering the severity and urgency of the situation at hand, Elias noted that Clinton’s camp has taken all the necessary precautions that are available to them. They’ve gathered both in-house and outside analysts to detect anomalies in voter patterns, as well as analyzing the situation with experts. Clinton’s team took on the responsibility of cataloging and investigating all proposed theories and studying the laws and practices related to recounts.
Even though Elias has stated that from their stance the “effort has not resulted in evidence of manipulation,” they wanted to join the efforts to “ensure that an accurate vote count will be reported.”
The Stein-initiated initiative will focus on the three states dominated by Republican votes: Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Obama’s administration recently voiced their confidence in voter integrity of this election, while Trump claims, “This is a scam by the Green Party for an election that has already been conceded.”
