Bill O’Reilly is out of a job and a lot of people, like A LOT of people, are excited about it, including Rep. Maxine Waters. (D–Calif.) The California congresswoman and O’Reilly have sparred more than a few times in the public eye, with Waters being unafraid to speak her mind. CNN’s Anderson Cooper spoke with the congresswoman Wednesday night (April 19) about O’Reilly’s termination, to which she applauded the women who came forward and also questioned O’Reilly’s psychological state.
“You know, Bill O’Reilly is not going to be recorded favorably in history,” Waters said. “Unfortunately, he was a man who made tremendous sums of money, who had a huge show and really, there’s something wrong with him psychologically.”
O’Reilly’s termination from Fox News comes after a bombshell investigative piece published in the New York Times alleged the 67-year-old and the network paid a total of $13 million to settle sexual harassment allegations made by several women. O’Reilly denied the claims, while an exodus of more than 30 advertisers began taking place, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Hyundai, Mitsubishi and Allstate, to name a few.
Waters made it clear to state that O’Reilly’s latest predicament is his own doing, and that women are no longer keeping quiet about injustices they experience.
“It’s all his fault,” Waters continued. “I hope he seeks some help and I hope that the women who come forward feel good about the justice they’re receiving. This is an era of women who are fed up with being taken advantage of, particularly in the workplace. We’ve been hearing about this for years.”
Regarding the news on O’Reilly, a day will come when rich men won’t be able to buy their way out of criminal conduct & they will go to jail.
