Chance The Rapper seeks to mold the path of Chicago’s future leaders and innovators, and decided to donate $1 million to the city’s public schools to support his effort. In addition to the praise the “No Problem” artist received, a fellow Chicagoan congratulated him on his historic gesture.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama publicly revealed her gratitude towards Chance’s monetary donation, and deemed him “an example of the power of arts education.”
Thanks @chancetherapper for giving back to the Chicago community, which gave us so much. You are an example of the power of arts education.

During Chance’s press conference on Monday afternoon (Mar. 6) at Wescott Elementary School, he outlined the reason for the sizable contribution. “The check that I donated is a call to action,” he said. “I’m challenging major companies and corporations Chicago and across the U.S. to donate and take action.”
Earlier this month, the 23-year-old Grammy Award winner met with Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner to outline ways that the city’s public schools could receive adequate and beneficial funding. Although the meeting didn’t go over smoothly — “The governor gave me a lot of vague answers in our meeting…” — Chance used his influential platform to take matters into his own hands.
.@chancetherapper not very happy about his meeting w/ @GovRauner on public schools.
