While traveling the world on an envious vacation, the Obamas will permanently plant their feet in the nation’s capital. According to CBS News, President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama purchased an $8.1 million house in Washington, D.C.
Upon their departure from the White House after eight years, the revered family rented the mansion that holds eight bedrooms. Given their youngest child, Sasha Obama’s enrollment in Sidwell Friends School, the former First Family decided to take up permanent residence until she graduates in the next two years.
In a statement issued by the family’s spokesman, “given that President and Mrs. Obama will be in Washington for at least another two and a half years, it made sense for them to buy a home rather than continuing to rent property.”
On their final days in the White House, Michelle Obama shared what her girls’ last soiree entailed. “They had a sleepover, because of course on Inauguration Day, because my girls are so normal, they’re like, ‘Well, eight girls are going to be sleeping here because it’s our last time, and we want pizza and we want nuggets,” she said.
