President Barack Obama addressed the nation in a speech less than 15 minutes long Wednesday night (Sept. 10) about the growing threat of the terrorist group ISIS, which is the same group responsible for the beheading of American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff.
“If you threaten America, you will find no safe haven,” the President said,
The speech outlined a two pronged plan that includes using military action and providing support for Syrian troops and the Iraqi government already fighting the extremist group for countless mass murder of men, women and children as well as rape.
During the second half of the speech, Obama spoke about the 13th anniversary of September 11, as well as the six year anniversary of The Great Recession. The president said despite the hardships that make Americans still face on a daily basis, as a nation, he believes we’re in a better place than where we were years ago.
“America is better positioned today to seize the future than any other nation on earth.”
