Kevin Hart is going through it.
The self-proclaimed “comedic rockstar” took to Instagram this weekend to issue a public apology to his pregnant wife and children for what he says was ” poor decisions.” While Hart was cryptic in his message, it didn’t take long for the true meaning to be unearthed. According to TMZ, the 38-year-old is being extorted by a woman who has alleges to have a recording of her and Hart doing “sexually suggestive” things. TMZ reports the footage is not a sex tape.
As many online issued digital sigh and side eyes in the forms of tweets and well-researched Gifs, some took it a step further to dig up an old Breakfast Club interview in which the Jumanji star discusses why he wouldn’t cheat. In the clip, Hart explains that because of social media and how easily it is to film someone without their permission or them even knowing he’d be too skeptical to cheat.

“In today’s time, it’s too risky, and not to say that all women are opportunist and that’s not fair and that’s not true” Hart said. “There are some women that have given other women a bad name just with the social media and the and the posting of ‘in the bed with’ ‘let me take a picture of’ ‘look whose house, bathroom sink’ So even if I were to there is no safe return from it. I wouldn’t be a good cheater right now because I don’t feel like I can trust you to cheat. So you wouldn’t want to cheat with me because I’d question you like ‘what you doing? You taking a picture?’ “
While Hart hasn’t issued a statement beside his apology, a rep close to the comic said “someone tried to set Kevin up in a failed extortion attempt. As law enforcement is involved, we cannot comment further as it could affect the investigation.”
