A lot transpired on a Thursday evening (June 16) in Cleveland, Ohio. Game 6 of the suspenseful NBA Finals ended in a tied series (3-3) between the Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. Initially, GSW had the advantage leading the series 3-1 last week, but a switch went off in the Cavs’ locker room that saw the intensity of the team’s scoring leaders like LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.
But for Ayesha Curry, she like many other GSW fans, were left disappointed in the referees for their questionable calls. “I’ve lost all respect sorry this is absolutely rigged for money…” she said in a now-deleted tweet. “Or ratings in not sure which. I won’t be silent. Just saw it live sry.”
The cooking connoisseur later explained why she “tweeted in the heat of the moment,” sharing that her father was “racially profiled” by the arena’s security earlier that day because authorities thought he resembled a known con man, David Aminzadeh, The Undefeated reports.
Stephen Curry also backed his wife’s statement, sharing that they “threatened to arrest” his father-in-law “before they checked out his credentials.” He added, “It’s kind of been an emotional and tough night all around.” A tough night indeed, falling to the Cavs 115-101.
On the subject of Mrs. Curry’s spiel on Twitter, Steph backed his wife’s statements. “When it comes to Twitter and all that, everybody says stuff where you get caught in the moment. After a while, you kind of stand and calm down. Things might be as you thought…I don’t fault her for showing some emotion on Twitter.”
The game to determine it all will tip-off on GSW’s turf on Sunday (June 19) at 8 p.m. on ABC.
