Did you know that 13-year-old little league star Mo’Ne Davis bumped NBA MVP Kobe Bryant off the national cover of Sports Illustrated? No? Well did you know that even though she pitches at a speed of 70 mph (which ESPN has down to a science), she’s a better point guard? We didn’t either! Luckily these fun facts and more are packed into the latest Spike Lee joint, Mo’ne Davis: Throw Like A Girl, a Chevrolet sponsored documentary.
The 16-minute film gives us a mere glimpse into the life of the little league legend. With a slew of interviews from family, friends, coaches and sports specialist, we see why Mo’Ne has been crowned a rising household name in pro sports. “It’s not all about being serious and it’s not all about being the best, ” Davis said. “You always have to laugh, [like] you’re still a kid and you’re always going to laugh.”
Ending the doc in true champ style, Mo’Ne takes a sprint up the Rocky Steps and thanks America for the best summer of her life and reminds us what it really means to “throw like a girl.” Watch the full documentary up top.
