Charles Barkley is giving back to this prominent HBCU in a major way. The NBA On TNT co-anchor revealed his plans to donate $1 million to Morehouse College’s Journalism and Sports Program (JSP), The Root reports.
The institution’s curriculum was founded by alumnus Spike Lee and his late friend, Ralph Wiley, who went down in history as one of America’s first African-American sports columnists.

“We aim to produce the media’s next generation of image makers, from columnists to digital specialists, covering a wide variety of news and marketing positions,” Ron Thomas, JSP’s director, said in a press release. “Charles Barkley has always been very generous to students in our Journalism and Sports Program on a personal level. I am thrilled that Charles has greatly extended his generosity by donating $1 million to address our growing needs.”
