During an interview with HBO’s “Real Sports” Tuesday, (March 22) veteran sideline broadcaster Craig Sager revealed the acute myeloid leukemia he’s battled since 2014 is no longer in remission, and doctors predict he may only have three to six months to live.
The 64-year-old who’s become a celebrated and respected figure in the NBA in part because of his colorful, sometimes outlandish wardrobe, confirmed doctors informed him he’s now entering “uncharted territories” in his battle against leukemia.
Sports Illustrated Ben Golliver obtained an official copy of Sager’s transcript of the interview in which he bravely and honestly speaks about his prognosis.

“I’ve already had two stem cell transplants. Very rarely does somebody have a third,” Sager told HBO. “So I have to maintain my strength, so I can go through this.”
Keep fighting, Sager.
