Turner Sports reporter, Craig Sager, received the Jim Valvano Perseverance Award at the ESPYS Wednesday night (July 13), at the Microsoft Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. Sager took the stage after an embrace with Vice President, Joe Biden.
Honored to have shared the stage with Craig Sager during his moving speech at the ESPYs tonight. A lesson on how to live. #SagerStrong

The 64-year-old dressed as exuberant as ever, with a colorful jacket and his very own inspired cheetah print Kevin Durant 7 EXT sneakers made exclusively to fit his swollen feet as a result of the cancer treatment. Sager was diagnosed with leukemia back in 2014, after being in remission since 2015, he revealed in an interview with HBO in April of this year that the cancer is no longer in remission.

Losing the fight to Sager would mean not being able to do the job he loves. It didn’t stop him this past post-season as he would go for treatment in Houston, Texas in the morning, then travel to San Antonio to work the game at night. This kind of strength is unheard of when going through chemotherapy.
