An unnamed woman is demanding $21.5 million in damages from basketball player Derrick Rose after accusing him of raping her in 2013.
The woman, who said she dated Rose from 2011 to 2013, claims that the Chicago Bulls’ point guard and two of his friends broke into her Los Angeles apartment and gang raped her, TMZ reports. Rose admitted to the group sex, but he said that it was consensual. He also said that he has been involved in group sex with the woman in the past, but those engagements were always consensual as well.
The trial is set to begin in 2017. The woman is suing him for $6 million in compensatory damage and $15.5 million in punitive damage.
These updates to the case didn’t slow down Rose’s game last night, as he helped the Bulls win their season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers Tuesday night (Oct. 27). He scored 18 points despite his limited vision; he fractured his left orbital bone in September after being elbowed in the face and underwent surgery on it in September.
