With the 2016 NBA champions, Cleveland Cavaliers, gearing up to visit the White House Thursday (Nov. 10), many are wondering will they be the last team to do so, with President Barack Obama leaving office for the incoming Donald Trump.
Jalen Rose of ESPN speculated that future teams will boycott the opportunity to go to the White House and meet Trump. “Mark my words there will be players who decline to visit the White House under his presidency,” Rose said.
Former NBA All-Star Chauncey Billups, was also on set and agreed with Rose’s sentiment, echoing, “I’m a dad of three daughters and I fear that the opportunities that have been afforded to some people won’t be afforded to my kids. It’s disappointing.”

Snapchat aficionado and infamous Cavalier veteran, Richard Jefferson took to the “snap” to express a message saying he believes the Cavs will be “the last team to visit the White House.”
It’s safe to say many NBA players have similar feelings to that of Rose and Billups. This will definitely be something to keep an eye on in the coming year, as Obama invited the Cubs to the White House after their improbable World Series run.
