Drake continues to prove he can be one of the most supportive friends for others when he’s good and ready (well, despite Quentin Miller saying their friendship is “dead”). Although he’s been busy on the performance circuit, he took a moment to dip out to Las Vegas, where Ireland’s Conor McGregor and Russia’s Khabib Nurmagomedov are preparing for the big UFC 229 match.
During the weigh-in for the lightweight title fight last night (Oct. 5), the Canadian OVO frontman was right there in the T-Mobile Arena to be in the mix of it all. Drake, cloaking himself with a giant Irish flag, gave McGregor a quick dap before posing up with him backstage later.

The two have been friends for a few years, so no, this isn’t sudden stanning. McGregor opened up about their friendship to UFC in 2016. “I’m a big fan of Drake,” he’d said then. “I had a meeting with Jimmy Iovine of Apple and he invited me to the show… I’d spoke to Drake before the first [Nate] Diaz fight—he reached out and messaged me—and we’ve been in contact since then. I went and met him backstage and he was a cool guy. Another man at the top of his game, it was a great night.”
As the kids say, get you a friend that cheers for you the way Drizzy does for his friends. Harmless support aside, the Internet wouldn’t be the Internet if someone didn’t crack a well-timed joke.
