Draymond Green Shut Down An Insensitive Question About Houston Floods

A reporter at a postgame press conference attempted to ask Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green about the terrible flooding in Houston, Texas, and tried to sloppily and unnecessarily compare the natural disaster to floods of three-point shots he and the team made against the Houston Rockets in Game 4 of the NBA Playoffs.

Well, Green was not loving this insensitive question, which he alludes this reporter has asked a few times recently.

“You’re tryin’ to get a controversial statement out of me, and you’re not,” he said, as the frustration grew in his voice. “I know what you’re gettin’ at, but you’re not gettin’ that out of me. It — it sucks. If I was from Houston, I’d do anything I can to help the city out, and I’m sure some of those guys [Rockets organization and players] are going to do what they can to help the city out. It sucks. Stop trying to do that. That’s not cool, man. You keep asking me the same question about this flood. These people are losing their lives, bruh. Losing their homes. Don’t ask me that no more. Because it ain’t cool, and you’re not getting the statement you want out of me. That’s not cool, man. Stop doing that.”

According to Deadspin, “…the Rockets won Game 3 as Houston was still dealing with a major flood, but got blown out in Game 4—and last year’s Western Conference Finals, where the Rockets got blown out in Game 3 but won Game 4 as Houston was dealing with a major flood.”
