Current free agent and former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Tarvaris Jackson was arrested early Friday morning after threatening to kill his wife during an argument.
According to the NFL’s news channel, the 33-year-old was charged with aggravated assault after pulling a gun on his wife. The incident reportedly happened the couple’s home in Kissimmee, Florida when Jackson arrived intoxicated. The police report stated his wife feared for her life after a verbal argument led to Jackson kicking in their bedroom door.
Shortly after, Jackson pulled out a gun, loaded it and told his wife, “I will kill you.” A friend of Jackson’s restrained him before the police arrived. His wife told police she grabbed a knife and a clothing iron for her protection. She also told police Jackson has physically abused her in the past.
Jackson confirmed to the police he said he would shoot her, but didn’t have the gun in his hand at the time. Police saw a 9 mm handgun on the kitchen counter while talking to the parties. Jackson also claimed he grabbed a bag that was holding the gun after his wife grabbed the knife. More details revealed his wife said, “You better be accurate because you ain’t accurate on the field” when he threatened to shoot her.

Jackson was released from Osceola County Jail after posting $2,500 bond. The Alabama native has played for a number of teams including Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills before landing a spot as a backup quarterback for Russell Wilson in 2011 for the Seahawks. The team’s coach Pete Carroll told reporters in March his hopes to bring the player back. However during the current off-season, the team signed Trevone Boykin and Jake Heaps as backup options.
Jackson hasn’t made a public statement about the incident.
