New York Jets Quarterback Geno Smith will be out for six to 10 weeks after a dispute over $600 led to a physical altercation resulting in his broken jaw.

According to reports, Smith, 24, who now has two fractures in his jaw, accepted a plane ticket from linebacker Ik Enemkpali to attend the linebacker’s football camp in Pflugerville, Texas. Smith didn’t attend the event when someone close to him died in a motorcycle accident.
Enemkpali confronted Smith about his absence Tuesday morning (Aug. 11) and demanded he refund the money used to purchase the plane ticket. Sources say Smith agreed to do so, but did not have the money as of yet. A confrontation erupted in the Jets locker room ending with a punch and broken jaw.
It’s not that Geno Smith didn’t pay back IK Enemkpali. He just didn’t do it yet. He intended to pay him back, per sources. Just not in time.

Enemkpali was immediately let go from the Jets following the altercation and released a statement taking responsibility for his actions.
“I apologize to the Jets organization, coaches, teammates and fans,” the statement reads. “Geno and I let our frustration get the best of us, but I should have just walked away from the situation. I deeply regret and apologize for my actions. It was never my intention to harm anyone. I appreciate the opportunity I had with the Jets.”
Smith however took to his Instagram page letting all Jets fans know he won’t be defeated.
