Killer Mike is calling out Michael Jordan to put his best foot forward in a big way.
The Run The Jewels rapper has been increasingly vocal about his views on police brutality and has repeatedly urged America’s black community to only give their money to black businesses. As a result of his efforts, 8,000 new accounts were opened in a five-day time span at Citizens Trust Bank, a black owned bank in Atlanta, Georgia. Recently, it seems that Killer Mike has taken notice of legendary ball player and philanthropist Michael Jordan’s hefty donation to the NAACP—two million dollars to be exact—and is challenging him to take his generosity up a notch.
Sunday (Aug. 7), Killer Mike made a lengthy post on Instagram asking Jordan to take the profits from his Air Jordan 5 “Olympic” White and Gold shoes, which are set to be released on Aug. 20, 2016, and donate that money to a “black financial institution.” He believes that Jordan could set a trend for fellow athletes to do the same.
Michael Jordan has not publicly responded to Killer Mike’s challenge yet.
