Kobe and Gianna Bryant have been laid to rest. According to multiple reports, a private funeral was held for the late NBA legend and his 13-year-old daughter in Corona Del Mar, California on Feb. 7.
The family continues to struggle with the loss of Kobe and Gigi, ET reported on Tuesday (Feb. 11). “Vanessa [Bryant] and the family wanted a private service to mourn the loss,” a source told the outlet. “The ceremony was extremely hard for everyone as it’s still hard for them to grasp they lost two beautiful souls.”
Vanessa opened up about the pain of losing both her child and husband in an emotionally candid Instagram post on Monday (Feb. 10).
“I’ve been reluctant to put my feelings into words. My brain refuses to accept that both Kobe and Gigi are gone. I can’t process both at the same time. It’s like I’m trying to process Kobe being gone but my body refuses to accept my Gigi will never come back to me. It feels wrong. Why should I be able to wake up another day when my baby girl isn’t being able to have that opportunity?! I’m so mad. She had so much life to live,” wrote the grieving mom and widow.
Vanessa went on to note that despite wanting to be with Gigi and Kobe, she has to remain strong for her other three daughters. The mother of four shared the post in an effort to help others the same thing. “God I wish they were here and this nightmare would be over. Praying for all of the victims of this horrible tragedy. Please continue to pray for all.”
Kobe, Gigi, two of her classmates, and five others were killed in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26. A public memorial will be held for Kobe and his daughter at the Los Angeles Staples Center on Feb. 24.
