With a heavy heart, Kobe Bryant opened up about his 2004 Colorado rape case and the effect it had on his wife Vanessa, and their family.
During the airing of his Showtime documentary, Muse, the L.A. Laker revealed he and his wife were expecting their second child. However, due to the stress of the trial she miscarried, which Bryant 36, blames himself for.
“It’s the man’s job to look out for your family. It’s the man’s job to always be the anchor of stability for the family and in that aspect, I failed miserably,” Bryant said.
While the shooting guard never directly mentions the rape case, which was thrown out because the accuser didn’t testify, Bryant applauds his wife’s loyalty and admits it would’ve been easier for her to walk away.
“Things would’ve been really easy for her to leave, actually” said the five-time NBA champion. “Leave, take half your money. Life’s good, but she didn’t do that.”
