The Los Angeles Lakers suffered from a close 107-100 loss to the Sacramento Kings last night (Oct. 13), and though it may not seem that big of a deal given that it’s preseason, the even bigger problem was their team captain exiting the game after suffering another injury.
After Kobe Bryant took a knee to his calf in the matchup, every Lakers fan was hit with the fear of the injury bug all over again once the star exited the game. But why Bryant ended up leaving the arena entirely was what had minds really wondering.
The leg contusion wasn’t a factor in Bryant’s departure from MGM Grand Garden Arena last night, who is stated to be totally fine. Instead the tragic news of his former teammate Lamar Odom was reportedly the reason behind it all, the New York Post reports. The irony of the two simultaneously being located in Las Vegas, Nev. after the devastating story surfaced of Odom being found unconscious in a brothel only made it that much more convenient for Bryant to be by his side once Odom was rushed to be hospitalized.
The duo undoubtedly shared some of the most memorable moments of their careers together as they won back-to-back NBA championships in 2009 and 2010 as Lakers teammates for seven seasons.
