This NBA Finals match-up just received some game-changing news.
Cleveland Cavaliers’ Kyrie Irving will miss the remainder of the team’s fight for the championship title, ESPN reports, due to surgery on his fractured left kneecap. The 23-year-old guard suffered the untimely injury during Thursday night’s regulation (June 4), while the Cavs engaged in a nail-biting overtime bout with the Golden State Warriors. The Cavs ultimately lost 100-108.

Irving later took to Instagram to thank fans for their support.
“I want to thank everyone for the well wishes. Saddened by the way I had to go out but it doesn’t take away from being apart of a special playoff run with my brothers. Truly means a lot for all the support and love,” he said. “I Gave it everything I had and have no regrets. I love this game no matter what and I’ll be back soon. To my brothers: You already know what the deal is. And to Delly: “ICE it down del” Big Perk voice.”
