The world lost another legend when Muhammad Ali passed away June 3, but Laila Ali and her siblings lost their father. The undefeated boxing champion and daughter to the heavyweight icon posted a sweet tribute on Facebook, as she and others continue to mourn his passing.
Laila shared a touching collage of Muhammad Ali just one day after his memorial service, which gathered hundreds of fans, family members and friends in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
The picture features two images of her dad at a younger age, one of him in the ring, and another of him looking off into the distance. And below the images, is a sweet message over heavenly skies, which reads, “I know wherever you are you are surrounded by LOVE & LIGHT!”
In the Facebook caption, the 38-year-old continued to thank fans for their undying love and well wishes during this devastating time for her family.
“Thanks for all of the love and support that has always been given to my father and my family! I truly appreciate all of your messages and condolences,” she wrote.
Laila’s appreciation comes after many celebrities and athletes such as Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, and more expressed their deepest condolences. Ali’s funeral procession, which was held Friday (June 10) also gathered well-known faces, including Will Smith, who acted as one of the pallbearers former President Bill Clinton, George Foreman, and many others who wished to pay their respects.
