Gamers and ballers alike will soon be dribbling to the same tunes as MVP champ Lebron James. Producers of NBA 2K14 have enlisted the help of the Miami Heat’s “King James” to curatet the soundtrack for the upcoming video game.
According to NBA.com, during James’ offseason he will oversee as the music curator over the best selling video game franchise. 2K Sports announced Friday that the Heat player had selected up to 20 songs for the soundtrack, and will also be featured on the cover of the video game. James feels honored to be the first cover athlete to pick songs for the soundtrack.
“2K is letting me take control of some important elements in NBA 2K14, including this year’s soundtrack,” James said. “I love that I’m the first NBA 2K cover athlete to choose the soundtrack.”
Fellow friend and Grammy-winning rapper Jay-Z was the executive producer of the last year’s 2K13, selling over 4.5 million copies. The game goes on sale Oct.1, songs to be featured on the soundtrack are Drake’s ‘Started From The Bottom,’ Phil Collins’ ‘In the Air Tonight,’ Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky,’ featuring Pharrell Williams and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ ‘Can’t Hold Us,’ with Ray Dalton. Other music to be featured include Jay-Z, Robin Thicke, Eminem, Fly Union, Gorillaz, Jadakiss, John Legend, Kanye West, Rick Ross, Kendrick Lamar, Nas and P. Diddy.
