As much as he visits the station, Lil Wayne might as well get a job at ESPN.
During his latest visit to the sports network, Wayne got his very own SportsCenter segment, “Weezy On The Call.” Taking on classic moments in sports announcement history, the rapper assumed the role of sports announcer. From the most famous radio call in NBA history – Johnny Most’s reaction to the Celtic’s John Havlicek’s steal in the final seconds of the 1965 Eastern Conference Finals – to that time George Foreman made Joe Frazier hit the mat in less than two minutes, Wayne remixed sports history.
“Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier!” Wayne imitated Howard Cosell’s memorable quote before wondering, “Why did I say that three times, and he hopped right back up, real quick?”
Wayne also did his best versions of other legendary calls, including Bill Raftery “Send it in, Jerome!” to Jerome Lane’s backboard-shattering dunk in 1988. Watch Weezy try his hand at sports announcing below:
