With the bets rolling in for Floyd Mayweather’s fight against Manny Pacquiao this Saturday (May 2), Mexico has one less cost to worry about. TMZ Sports reports that the blockbuster PPV will be streamed for $free.99 in Mexico.
The World Boxing Council says two major Mexican TV networks, Televisa and Azteca, will stream the PPV free-of-charge, the first feat of its kind. “Televisa and Azteca must be recognized for their great commitment, for bringing to Mexico this bout for free,” a rep tells TMZ Sports. “This has never, ever happened in any country of the world.” Mexican brew, Tecate, also happens to be the official beer of the fight.
For residents in the U.S., the bout will run you about $90 to $100 per viewing, depending on which HBO or Showtime feed you choose.
Tickets for the live event sold out in under a minute last week, with seats ranging from $1,500 to $7,500. The MGM Grand Garden Arena will host the battle in Las Vegas with both fighters expected to take home over $100 million.
